A French Kiss (the cocktail, that is) is a 50/50 mix of sweet and dry vermouth with a twist of lemon. Slightly sweet, slightly herbal, even a touch of bitterness (for all you Moxie fans out there). What makes it special? The lemonade ice cubes, of course, which melt ever so slowly while you're drinking, assuming that is that you drink slowly. Not all of us do, but you'd be missing the point--French Kisses that linger are the best kind.
Follow along as I cook all the recipes in The Gourmet Cookbook and Gourmet Today.
"Perhaps the most impressive of all the cookbook blogs are the three devoted to the 2004 edition of Gourmet magazine's "The Gourmet Cookbook" -- all 5¼ pounds and 1,300-odd recipes of it. Befitting this culinary Everest, all three writers are overachievers in their professional lives."

"I should have told you before how much I've been enjoying reading your thoughts. You seem like such a great cook."

Hey girl! I'm glad you reminded me - Top Chef Masters premiered tonight, with Ruth Reichl as one of the judges. I recently read her book Garlic & Sapphires (I just happened to find it on sale at my local bookstore) so I enjoyed seeing her, too. Her hair wasn't anywhere near as wild as I expected, given how much it was mentioned in the book! I love that she took on different personnas, as opposed to wearing disguises, pretty cool, something I know a little about these days.
She didn't say much during the show. Now that I've read her book I feel like I understand a lot more what restaurant critics look for.
So Wednesday is the night--I'll have to try to remember that, though your wrap-ups are so entertaining I feel like I've watched it myself. I've never even laid eyes on Isabella but despise him nonertheless. :-)
And wait--does that mean YOU'RE Zin? LOL--that would be awesome. I love Zin's posts. Another fan of exclamation points!
Sounds like a perfect drink for spring into summer.
Yes, hello, I am Zin! I am happy to meet you! Or someday will meet you if you come up to Portland again this summer! Shhh, I am a sort of secret. More than a pseudonym, less than a psychosis. And check out the latest Smokelong!
